X-Country Team Results

The cross country teams ran their first meet of the year at Van Cortlandt Park (in the Bronx and the most famous cross country course in the United States) on Thursday October 1. Out of more than 190 competitors in the boys race, eighth-graders Joe del Rio came in 5th, Greg Hyer, 12th, Zach Walsh, 18th, and Michael Anagnos, 28th. Results that bode well for a good season. For the first year, sixth-graders are allowed to join the cross country team and Elisabeth Morrow's fifth runner was Carter Hirschhorn, who placed 101st against mostly seventh- and eighth-grade competition. Sixth-graders Patrick Owens, Jongho Park and Greg Litt also placed well, close behind Carter. In the team competition (the top five individuals for each team comprise the team score and low score wins), EMS came in 3rd out of 14 schools, an excellent result.
