Kindergarten students have been learning about the life cycle of butterflies. Through observations of live butterflies they have learned the sequence of their growth, as well as scientific vocabulary relating to butterflies such as larvae, chrysalis, proboscis, and meconium. The children kept a journal which included drawings, scientific labels, and a time line to record each fascinating change that took place. It was exciting, but bittersweet to finally say goodbye as we released the butterflies into nature.
