At no other time in its history has the United Nations been called upon to play so many vital roles or engage in global progress towards democratic government, sustainable development, the observance of human rights and the peaceful settlement of disputes. Its frequency in the news for its multidimensional work has fostered many class discussions about complex issues such as globalization and multilateral diplomacy. It is important that these young student understand that their daily lives are lived in a global context.
