The Middle School Nature Photography Club visited the New York Botanical Gardens on Wednesday of last week for some inspiration.  These pictures were taken by eighth graders Rene Spiewak, Deborah Ro, and Nikki Quinn.  

All school assembly

All school assembly focused this morning on the "middle" of the school year. First graders presented their "halfway day" projects, Chilton House students sang "I'm going to mail myself to you," their homage to the February tradition of the kindergarten post office, sixth graders gave a rendition of a song from their recent musical, and members of the middle school sports teams gave midseason reports. Boys' basketball is 11-2 and co-ed ice hockey is 2-0 so far this season! Here is a picture of the whole school during the assembly

From today's Fashion Luncheon...

We had a great crowd and a great time at the EMS Fashion Luncheon today at Neiman Marcus (Paramus).  Our thanks to parent Jenny Steingart who sent along this video (below) of the EMS moms and other models in their final walk down the runway.

8th Grade Analyzes the Inauguration

The eighth grade history classes watched and read the text of yesterday's inauguration.  They each wrote a page long analysis and reviewed NY Times articles written about the event.  This morning, the class discussed President's Obama's speech, who its audience was, his rhetorical strategy, and what messages he sent about his next four years in office.

Friday All-School Assembly

Chilton House students opened our first all-school assembly of 2013 by leading everyone in a rendition of their "snowman" song - students' first introduction to the concept of scale. Here, the snowman has melted back to the ground (and they are singing low notes.)

The idea of snowmen are wishful thinking so far this winter.

Buddy Movement Class

On our first day back from break, 6th grade students participated in movement class with their Chilton House buddies.  The class included a lesson on animal walks and exploring basic skills of throwing, catching, bouncing and kicking using beach balls.  A fun time was had by all!  ~Mrs. Gabriel

Eagles with two wins to start 2013

EMS' boys and girls basketball teams secured victories today over Saddle River in their first games of 2013. The boys team is now 3-0 on the season. This was the first game for the girls.
