Our first graders are well into their apple study. This week, we learned about bees as pollinators for Apple trees as well as other plants. Miss Abby, from The Tenafly Nature Center came to talk to each 1st grade class about bees. She provided a great hands on experience for the children. She showed us trays from the beehives, the beekeeping outfit, honeycomb, and the honey extractor. The first graders are very excited for their field trip to Dr. Davies apple farm.

Election Season
Though the presidential election is still more than a month off, it is already election season in the middle school, as more than a dozen candidates will run for the honor of being Student Council President. Three others will have the honor of serving on the Council as representatives. The election is a unique opportunity for students to take a leadership role in directly affecting student life. The election will be tomorrow, and results will be announced next week, both to the middle school early in the week and to the entire school at our All-School Assembly next Friday. Here, you can see the students' campaign signs covering one stairway in Morrow House.

Teachers Have Hopes and Dreams, Too!
"When teachers and students speak publicly of their hopes for the year; a sense of group identity emerges, and children begin to feel ownership of their classroom and school."
