I had a chance to take in recess up at Morrow House this morning. How little it has changed, I thought. After all, at their age, I too had my jacket off on a cool day, shirt untucked, playing in whatever impromptu ball-game happened to be going on. It even sounds the same as it did 30 years ago.

Times change, but it seems that children at play, do not.

Dies Linguae Latinae
Latin Day is a program of the Ascanius Youth Classics Institute and was designed to bring Latin to life for our eighth graders. Students (discipulī) participated in a variety of immersion activities and games to improve their overall vocabulary, grammar and oral comprehension. The program was conducted entirely in Latine and led by Mattew Webb, Director of Ascanius. Students were encouraged to speak only in Latin and to fully immerse themselves in all aspects of the language in order to view the language in a new and complex way. The enthusiasm, humor and excitement were evident throughout the symposium!
Quid magnus dies erat! (what a day it was!)

Hundredth Day Fun Continues......
For the 100th day of Kindergarten, the children wanted to know where 100 steps would take them. They cut colorful footprints and counted as they were placed. It turns out that 100 steps led from the door of C4 right up to Mrs. Murphy's desk! We also did 100 exercises and counted 100 seconds of silence (you may want to try that one at home).
Some of the children chose to look like The Cat in the Hat as we celebrated Dr. Suess' birthday by reading favorite Dr. Seuss books.
